Spam messages are the worst thing that could happen to any mobile owner.

Mobile users have been dealing with these spams for so long already that some even switch services, numbers or sims to avoid getting them but the same thing happens still. So you wonder, how do these spams find their way to me, how did they get my number?

How am I supposed to stop them? Or at least minimise these spammy messages I am receiving. Here are some simple steps that you can do to avoid getting on the spam list.

Though it is rather hard to put a halt to it since the companies who operate this kind of market have no formal opt out system, meaning, they send the same worthless messages to thousands of other users.

There are some things that you can do to avoid being in such a predicament, here are some of the simplest ways to avoid them.

1. Avoid listing your number online. This applies to all sites that you get into that asks for personal information or your mobile number.

The thing is, mobiles numbers are similar to e-mails, both can be spammed. Be wary, since some of these third parties can easily gain access to several sites and can get a hold of your number, thus increasing your risk of getting spammed.

2. Don't give your number just to any person. When filling in details on a form especially on sites or companies that want to ask you for your mobile number, always be wary since the information that you give them might not be just disclosed to them.

If you do get to verify your interest with the company, then they will assume that you are open to being contacted with their spam messages on promos and discounts, or whatnot. Take note that the reliability of these companies can be questionable, some of them don't even exist but just operates so that they can squander money from unknowing victims.

3.

Avoid replying to spam texts. In relation to the second step, you must never give your number to anyone else or to any site as well or else you'll start to get spammed. Some of these spam texts are just waiting for you to reply to them so that they can be sure that you phone number is indeed active, thus you are giving them an opportunity to spam you more, the same thing with e-mails.

4.

Do always check a company's privacy policy and or marketing schemes or plans. If however if there is a statement that says that the company will not give your number to any third party, still be wary and don't completely trust them. Read, understand and comprehend the details even the ones in small prints so that you will know about all the agreement.

5.

If everything else seems to fail, it's time to report them to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) Since this is the main agency that deals with issues like these and if a company is found guilty of going such thing then they will be fined. The offenders who will be found guilty will pay a a justly fine.

Companies or people who spam will always continue doing so if they get responses from people, it doesn't really matter if it's positive or negative.

Somehow, the simplest method is just to ignore them no matter how gracious the offer may seem, by doing so, these companies won't be able to verify you and then they won't get enough data to start their operation.
